Application

  • Diffusion is when the oil is released into the air.  This may be done with air diffusers or by putting 10-12 drops in a spray bottle with water.

  • Topically, oils may be applied over the area of complaint.  The bottom of the feet and ears are also good for application because of the stimulation to acupuncture points in those areas of the body.

  • Inhalation is when the oil is directly breathed in through the nose.  This allows the oil to be directly absorbed into the brain through the first cranial nerve (olfactory nerve).  This should typically be done with any other application in order to speed the effects in the body through neurological stimulation.  Inhalation of some oils can lead to headaches, so start with light inhalation.

Around The Home To Freshen Rooms
Enhance your home environment naturally.  While many of the synthetic commercial air fresheners merely mask smells, essential oils cleanse the air.  Not only can they make your rooms pleasant but recent scientific studies have demonstrated that many of the essential oils have disinfectant properties while others can positively impact your mood.

Think about it: the fresh smell of the citruses or the invigorating scent of Peppermint in the kitchen; the purifying smell of Eucalyptus or Rosemary in a sickroom; or the comforting and calming smell of Lavender in the family room.

To achieve this, add 20 drops of your favorite oil, mixture of oils, or any of our blends to 8 ounces of water in a spray mist bottle.  Shake well before using and spray around the room.  For a longer lasting effect, place oils in a diffuser, lamp ring or add to water in a simmering potpourri pot.  Replenish as necessary.
